O Blue Öyster Cult foi formado em Long Island, EUA, em 1967.
A banda faz um som que fica no meio do caminho entre o hard rock e o heavy metal e usa com bastante freqüência temas relacionados a ficção científica e horror.
O primeiro álbum do BÖC foi lançado em 1972 e o grupo continua em atividade até hoje.
O álbum disponível é uma boa coletânea que abrange o melhor período do BÖC, de 1972 a 1983.
